Sharjah’s top 5 places to have breakfast

There’s no shortage of breakfast options for you and your family in Sharjah. We’ve listed five options below, mainly in the centre of town but with one off the beaten track.

Bystro

It’s about 45 minutes to drive from the centre of Sharjah to the archaeological site at Maliha, but the trip is definitely worth it. With outstanding views of the dunes around Fossil Rock, Bystro is the perfect way to fuel up for a day exploring the desert around Maliha. Opening at 9am every day, Bystro’s breakfast menu includes crumpets, banana walnut bread, Belgian waffles and French toast.

Paper Fig

Founded three years ago by Emirati husband-and-wife team Ahmed Al Mazrouei and Nawal Al Nuaimi, Paper Fig brands itself as Sharjah’s ‘ultimate foodie destination’, and with some merit. Located in Muwaileh, Paper Fig’s breakfast menu includes shaksuka, scrambled eggs in croissants and ricotta and mushrooms on sourdough bread.

Jones The Grocer

Jones The Grocer’s first outlet in Sharjah is perfectly situated on Flag Island, giving diners a great place to sit and while away the morning hours. The restaurant’s breakfast menu has plenty of options, including the traditional English breakfast and eggs benedict, as well as more off-the-wall selections such as grilled sweet potato and smashed avocado, and home-made coconut flour pancakes.

Ghawa Gahwa

Nestled in Souq Al Shanasiyah, one of Sharjah’s oldest and most atmospheric souqs, Ghawa Gahwa is especially popular with visitors to the Heart of Sharjah area. Choose from a wide selection of hot and cold coffee brews, as well as cakes, desserts, freshly made pancakes and sandwiches.

Twisted Olive Bistro

Located in the Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club, Twisted Olive Bistro is a firm favourite with both local nationals and expats. The restaurant’s breakfast menu includes a variety of vegetarian and vegan choices, as well as dishes such as the Mexican Breakfast Bowl and the Short Rib & Sriracha Bennie.
