Olympics superstar Keegan Palmer unveiled as new Ambassador for Aljada Skate Park

News: 10 June 2022

One of the world’s top skateboarders, Olympic Gold Medallist Keegan Palmer, has been named as the new Ambassador for Aljada Skate Park.

As Aljada Skate Park’s Ambassador, Keegan has been instrumental in the design of the third phase of the park, which will be opened by the end of the year.

The final phase of Aljada Skate Park will be built to a ‘five-star’ level, with the ability to host international invitationals and major qualifying competitions.

Keegan Palmer, Aljada Skate Park Ambassador, said: “This new park is going to raise the bar when it comes to the skating experience here in the Middle East. I’ve taken elements from each of my favourite skate parks from around the world and introduced them to Aljada, and I’m keeping a close eye on the build process from start to finish.

“It’s great to see how skate culture here in the UAE is going from strength to strength, and Aljada Skate Park is definitely going to be a new focal point for the local community.”

Designed for beginners, the first phase of Aljada Skate Park was opened in 2020. The park’s second phase, for intermediate level, opened to the public this month.

To celebrate the opening of the second phase, Keegan will be taking part in two ‘Skate Jams’ from 6.30pm on both Saturday 11 June and Sunday 12 June.

He will also return to launch the full park when it opens to the public later on this year.

Aged just 18, Keegan won the first ever gold medal for park skateboarding at the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games, held in 2021.

Keegan turned professional aged 14 and is currently ranked seventh in the World Skate male park rankings. His skateboarding skills have already earned him an Order of Australia Medal.
