News: 27 January 2019

Arada has continued to build its relationship with one of the Middle East’s most successful educational institutions by sponsoring the American University of Sharjah (AUS)’s Annual Alumni Reunion for the second year in a row.

Held on Thursday 24 January in the presence of HH Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of AUS, the twelfth reunion saw thousands of graduates, faculty and business leaders gather at the AUS campus.

Arada sponsored a raffle prize consisting of a night’s stay, full board, at Kingfisher Lodge in Kalba, during the gala dinner.

Addressing the reunion, the Sharjah Ruler said that the first theme of the university’s strategic plan focused on enriching the university experience and academic performance, the second on achieving sustainability and protecting the environment, the third on strengthening social connections and establishing partnerships, and the fourth on supporting scientific research through the establishment of the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park.

During the event, Arada also sponsored a raffle prize in the form of a night’s stay, full board, at Sharjah Collection’s new Kingfisher Lodge eco-resort in Kalba. The winner was Mohaned Baseet.

Arada’s partnership with AUS is already allowing students from the university’s College of Architecture, Art and Design conceptualise a pavilion in Aljada, the developer’s lifestyle community located adjacent to University City.

AUS alumni visit the Arada stand during the course of the evening.

The Aljada Pavilion is a structure located in the focal point of Aljada, the Central Hub, the masterplan for which is being designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. Scheduled to open in September 2019 following the year-long course at AUS, the pavilion constitutes a space for the public to gather in and around and will be architecturally innovative in its design.

American University of Sharjah is the seventh-highest ranked university in the Arab world, according to QS World University Rankings, and 376th highest overall. The institution is planning to be the top-ranked university in the Arab world in four years’ time.
