A half-hour drive along the coast from Dubai, the country’s third largest emirate offers residents and businesses alike a less frenetic quality of life as well as a more affordable one than its bustling neighbor; and with demand for middle-income housing moving relentlessly upward, it is also benefitting from the support of its ruler HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi as he seeks to reinforce Sharjah’s position as a secure and sought after place to live, work and play.

A case in point is the Aljada urban district, which, with a total area of some 2.2km2 and the capacity to house approximately 70,000 people, is set to become Sharjah’s largest ever mixed-use real-estate development in its own right, complete with the Central Hub, a leisure and entertainment complex designed by Zaha Hadid
