News: 21 August 2025
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Arada, has inaugurated the Quran Mosque, which ranks among the five largest mosques in the Emirate of Sharjah. Built without internal columns allowing worshippers to line up without obstruction, the mosque covers a total area of 6,388 square metres.
His Highness performed the Dhuhr prayer at the Quran Mosque in Aljada. The mosque accommodates 3,000 worshippers in total: 1,600 inside the main prayer hall, 1,000 in the outdoor courtyard, and 400 in the women’s prayer hall. The mosque features a circular external dome, a 39-meter-high minaret, and façades that combine plain concrete panels with Kufic calligraphy ornamentation highlighted by architectural lighting, creating a striking contrast between simplicity and decoration.
His Highness was briefed on the mosque’s details, which reflect a modern Islamic architectural style. Facilities include a retreat room, housing for the imam and muezzin, ablution areas, and restrooms. The mosque provides a spiritual atmosphere that meets the needs of residents and visitors and stands as a new architectural landmark in line with Sharjah’s distinctive identity.
Sheikh Dr. Salem Al Doubi delivered a lecture on the virtues of mosques, the importance of congregational prayers, and their role in self-discipline and instilling peace and tranquility among believers. He emphasized that mosques foster unity among people and hold a revered place in Islam, being described as houses of God.
Al Doubi also highlighted the great reward of building mosques, citing the example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who built Quba Mosque upon arriving in Medina. He reminded the audience of the Prophet’s saying: “Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, even the size of a bird’s nest, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.” He prayed for blessings upon those who contributed to building the mosque and asked God to grant them immense reward.
The inauguration of the Quran Mosque marks the first mosque to open in Aljada, with two more mosques under development by Arada to serve residents and visitors.
This initiative aligns with Sharjah’s wider efforts to construct mosques across the emirate, making congregational prayer more accessible. The new mosque also reflects the emirate’s commitment to providing integrated infrastructure that serves all segments of society and strengthens Islamic and social values.
Attending the inauguration alongside His Highness were Abdullah Khalifa Al Sabousi, Chairman of the Islamic Affairs Department; Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council; Khalifa Al Shaibani, Director General of Tilal Properties; and a number of officials.
