Arada celebrates 1 million man-hours without injury at Aljada megaproject site

News: 5 September 2019

Arada has completed a million safe man-hours without a lost time injury (LTI) at the site of its Sharjah megaproject, Aljada.

The safety milestone is a remarkable achievement, involving close cooperation and communication between a number of different teams working across the 24 million square foot jobsite.

Arada’s site team has introduced a number of initiatives that have helped it reach this landmark, including the creation of a health, safety and environmental (HSE) committee, monthly random tours across the project, daily HSE meetings and bi-weekly consultant HSE site visits.

Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, CEO of Arada said: “The safety of our onsite workers is Arada’s highest priority. Reaching this milestone is a great achievement for the hard-working frontline teams consisting of Arada personnel and our contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers.

“This is particularly impressive given the complex nature of this jobsite, as well as the extreme climate conditions, and I would like to congratulate each and every one of our team members for this success.”

Extensive safety training, including heat stress awareness, has also taken place onsite, with 4,888 employees attending toolbox talks. Emergency evacuation and medical emergency drills have also taken place regularly.
