News: 18 November 2019

Arada’s Head of Architecture and Design, Elie Mrad, recently took part in a well-received panel discussion held during Dubai Design Week, the Middle East’s largest creative festival

Mrad joined a distinguished panel that included Ferdinand Cheung (LWK + Partners), Philip Olmesdahl (SAOTA), Dr Nasser B Abulhasan (AGI Architects) and David Daniels (SSH). Entitled ‘New Markets 2021: The Future of Design’, the discussion was moderated by Oscar Rousseau, Editor of renowned industry publication Commercial Interior Design.

During the talk, Mrad discussed the strength of the real estate market in Sharjah, as well as the work that his team has undertaken to design specific products to market requirements. This approach has contributed significantly to Arada’s steady sales growth in the year to date.

Mrad also touched on Arada’s approach towards smart technology and sustainability, which are both being woven into its communities.

Held between 11-16 November, Dubai Design Week was held under the patronage of HH Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority.

The six-day programme covered a range of design disciplines including architecture, product design, interiors, multimedia and graphic design, with the majority of events being free to attend and accessible for both industry and public.

Key components of this year’s Dubai Design Week included the region’s leading design fair, Downtown Design; Global Grad Show, which brought together projects from 100 of the most innovative universities across the world; Abwab, the curated and interactive project containing original design from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia; alongside an extensive talks and workshop programme.
