Sharjah commuters to benefit as AED 1 billion roads infrastructure plan kicks in

Commuters between Sharjah and Dubai are set to benefit from smoother traffic flows following a series of announcements from Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

 

In February, the RTA said it was in the process of investing AED 1 billion in improving the road network between the two Emirates.

 

One part of the strategic enhancement plan involves widening a 12-kilometre stretch of Tripoli Road, providing a link between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road at a projected cost of AED 500 million.

 

 

According to the RTA, the second set of improvements includes parallel and supporting corridors to the Airport Road Improvement Project at an estimated cost of AED 490 million. Images shared by the RTA detail the work to take place.

 

The Dubai Media Office also announced that the already completed internal Dubai roadwork is also expected to ease traffic flow. The work, executed across 16 residential areas, helps to disperse commuters flowing from Dubai into Sharjah.  The upgraded roadways are just off Al Ittihad Road.
